    What Causes Exhaustion?

Exhaustion can have a variety of causes ranging from stress and anxiety to illness. It can be temporary or chronic depending on the cause. It's not unusual to feel exhausted during a hectic period at work, for example, but there are other times when exhaustion is a symptom of a larger problem.

Some common causes for exhaustion are lack of exercise, boredom, depression, stress, insomnia and illness. Viruses like the flu can bring on sudden feelings of exhaustion.  Those with metabolic disorders, diabetes, adrenal fatigue or thyroid issues may experience persistent, regular bouts of exhaustion. Over time, insomnia also leads to exhaustion.

    Symptoms of Exhaustion

Exhaustion manifests in a variety of ways. Symptoms include feeling tired, anxious, depressed, lethargic or restless. There may be muscle weakness or feelings of heaviness present. Feeling tired after a full night's rest may also signal exhaustion.

    Chronic Exhaustion

Feelings of exhaustion that are persistent and long-lasting should be taken seriously. Chronic exhaustion or fatigue with no discernible cause should be evaluated by a physician.  In some cases, it can be a symptom of a larger health issue like cardiovascular disease.  Chronic exhaustion is also common in those who suffer from depression.

In cases of chronic fatigue, it is important to discover and address the underlying cause in order to find relief.

    Help for Exhaustion

There are several remedies and practices that can help alleviate fatigue. Regular exercise is the best way to combat fatigue. It boosts energy and promotes more restorative sleep, naturally balancing the body's circadian rhythm.

Exhaustion is often the direct result of being overtaxed mentally from work and day-to-day living. Take time each day to engage in stress relieving activities like yoga or meditation to clear the mind and restore vitality.

Aromatherapy may also help relieve stress and promote alertness. Essential oils that help combat fatigue include rosemary, mint, sage and citrus oils. Blend oils or use them individually. Aromatherapy oils can be blended into massage oils or used in a diffuser and inhaled. Aromatherapy provides stimulation without further straining the adrenals.

Herbal remedies can also help fatigue. Gotu kola is a nutrient dense herb used in Ayurvedic medicine that promotes healthy energy levels and boosts stamina. Eleuthero is another herb that is used to combat adrenal fatigue and promote circulation, providing overall systemic support to improve vitality.

Fatigue Fighter is a natural remedy safe for adults and children 6+.  It is designed to maintain healthy energy levels and naturally support stamina and vitality.
