What is Nipple Conditioning Cream?
Nipple Conditioning Cream is a wonderfully soothing and conditioning cream especially formulated for maintaining skin tone and health before the birth of your baby as well as once you start nursing. It may be used during the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare the nipples for breastfeeding and also once your baby has been born to continue to support and ensure nipple health.
Nipple Conditioning Cream uses a combination of biochemic cell salts, herbal ingredients and vitamin E oil to safely soothe the skin and support nipple health and integrity – making breastfeeding a positive experience for both mother and baby.
Find joy in breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is one of the great joys of motherhood. However, contrary to popular belief, breastfeeding does not always come as easily as many people think.
The most common problem experienced by nursing mothers is painful and cracked nipples – often caused by incorrect positioning. Although this problem is theoretically preventable, it is very common as few mothers perfect the art of breastfeeding immediately.
It therefore makes sense to do all you can to prepare your breasts and the skin around the nipples for nursing and to take steps to support the health of the delicate skin once nursing has commenced. In addition, once the damage has occurred, healing may be delayed and difficult, and breastfeeding may become painful.
The natural way
There are many things that can be done to support nipple health and prepare your breasts for nursing. Some women find that spending a short time exposing their breasts to the sun each day in the last months of pregnancy helps to ‘toughen’ up the skin. So if you are able to do some bare breasted sunbathing, this will help to support healthy skin around the nipples – just don’t overdo it, of course!
Daily massage around the nipple area will also help to strengthen the skin in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Your nipples may be sensitive to the touch, so start gently and slowly so as not to cause discomfort.
Some midwives recommend a poultice using cabbage leaves to soothe the breasts and prevent common engorgement. While this may be an old wives tale to some, research has confirmed that this simple technique may, in fact, be quite effective!
Natural creams containing herbal ingredients can also help to condition the skin – both before the birth and once you have started nursing, thereby helping to make nursing a wonderful bonding time with your baby, rather than a struggle!
